About

About this site

Feng Shui Signal is an independent editorial reference on feng shui, published by Heberey LLC and written for American readers. We are not a consultancy, not an app, and not a spiritual brand. We are a reference library.

Why this site exists

English-language feng shui coverage splits into two camps: home-décor listicles that flatten a thousand-year tradition into paint colors, and marketing that promises luck no one can deliver. Between them sits a gap — a place that explains what the tradition actually says, in its own terms, with its Chinese sources named, and that is equally straightforward about what modern evidence does and does not support. This site is built to fill that gap.

Editorial principles

  • Accuracy to the tradition. Concepts are presented with their Chinese names (characters and pinyin), their classical sources, and their school lineages. When schools disagree — and they often do — we say so instead of picking a winner silently.
  • Honesty about evidence. "The tradition says" and "studies show" are different sentences, and we never blur them. Where research exists (mostly environmental psychology), we cite it; where it doesn't, we say there is none.
  • No promises. We will never tell you an arrangement guarantees wealth, health, or love. Pages that make such claims are the reason this site exists.
  • Sources and dates on every page. Each article lists its references and its last-updated date, and each is revised when we learn better.
  • Free tools, no accounts. Our calculators (like the Kua Number Calculator) run entirely in your browser, with documented methods, no sign-up, and no data collection.

Who is behind it

The site is published and maintained by Heberey LLC, a US company. Articles are researched and written by our editorial team against primary classical texts (in translation and original), academic references such as Ole Bruun's An Introduction to Feng Shui, and the published materials of the major schools. Corrections from readers — especially from practitioners and scholars of Chinese cosmology — are welcomed and credited.
