Feng shui cures for 2026
First, the part that costs nothing
Every school, classical and modern, agrees on one instruction for an afflicted sector: do not disturb it. No renovation, no drilling, no breaking ground, and where practical less noise and less traffic. In 2026 that applies to:
- S, holding the Five Yellow (五黃)
- NW, holding the Illness star (二黑)
- S, the seat of Tai Sui (太歲) in this Horse year
- N, the Three Killings (三煞)
- N, Sui Po (歲破), directly opposite Tai Sui
This is the load-bearing half of annual feng shui, and it is worth noticing that nobody sells it. If you do nothing else with the chart, postponing the bathroom refit on the S side of the house until the year turns is the whole practice in one decision.
The element logic, which you can derive yourself
Object cures look arbitrary until you see the rule underneath, at which point they stop being a shopping list. Each difficult star has an element, and the generating cycle tells you both what drains it and what feeds it. What drains a star is the element it generates. What feeds it is the element that generates it.

Read across the Five Yellow row and the entire metal cure industry becomes one sentence: the star is earth, earth generates metal, therefore put metal near it. Read the Jade 3 row and you get the instruction most people get backwards, which is that a water feature in that sector makes the quarrel star stronger rather than calmer, because water generates wood.
The named objects, and where they come from
These are the items sold as 2026 cures. All of them are worth knowing about as culture. None of them is required by the logic above.

Two details that most English listings blur. The Wu Lou attaches to the illness star for a reason outside the element system: the gourd is the medicine vessel of folklore, so the association is narrative rather than elemental, as our page on the Wu Lou traces. What you do not need to buy
Since this is where money changes hands, here is the honest accounting.
- You do not need a specific object. The method specifies an element. Six coins, a brass gourd, a metal bowl, a cast iron pan, and a steel sculpture are the same cure by the tradition's own reasoning. Buy the pretty one if you want a pretty one.
- You do not need it consecrated, energised, or blessed for a fee. That service is a modern retail addition, not something the classical texts describe.
- Antique coins are not required. Most sets sold as Five Emperor Coins are replicas. Collectors care, and there is a real market difference in the coins as objects. There is no evidence that either kind does anything, so the premium buys authenticity, not efficacy.
- Nothing here should carry a promise. A cure sold with a guaranteed result is claiming more than the tradition ever did, and that is the point at which a cultural practice becomes a claim about outcomes that no one can support.
Where the schools disagree
- Salt water cures. Common in modern teaching, absent from the classical literature. Some practitioners consider them standard and some consider them a modern invention.
- Wind chimes indoors. Favoured by some lineages for the movement and sound, avoided by others in bedrooms and quiet sectors on the grounds that an afflicted sector should be still.
- The wealth star. The 8 in E is treated as prosperous by most schools, while some Period 9 practitioners now argue its period has passed and weight the Purple 9 above it.
- Tai Sui amulets. Widely sold, and treated by many practitioners as unnecessary if you simply avoid disturbing the sector and do not sit with your back to it.

No object in this article has been shown to affect health, wealth, or safety, and this page should not be read as saying otherwise.
